Looking for a small pocket sized 35mm camera?

I want to find a small pocket sized 35mm film camera, that i can take everywhere with ease that is affordable. What are some camera I should look into?

(Preferably with the same styles like the Minoltas SRT and many other film camera of that time)

The Minox 35EL is a well known and very good pocket camera.

Cliveh is referring to a Kodak Retina IIc, another good smaller camera.

The Minolta CLE is a very nice smaller camera that is basically a Leica made by Minolta. The bad news is that it's very expensive - well over $500 with a standard lens.

A Minolta Hi-Matic 7 series will fill the bill nicely. Small: 4.5 wide, 2.25 deep, 3 tall, light, very sharp lens and anywhere from a few dollars to about a hundred (too much). Many can be had for fifty dollars or less. I've had mine for years and bought it for fifteen dollars with a Minolta Auto 14 flash.

What sort of Minolta SRT-like style do you mean? Do you mean all-manual exposure? Or metal bodies? Or something else?

I have had several: Rollie 35 is nice but weighs a ton and is bulky. You can't carry in any reasonable pocket; it like a little brick. Your posting has encouraged me to sell my Olympus XA on APUG. Great pocket camera.

Olympus XA is excellent and very pocketable, but certainly different than a Minolta SLR.

Canonet QL17GIII is what I ended up getting when I was looking for one. Nice fast 40/1.7 fixed lens, decent viewfinder with parallax correction framelines and meter readings visible. Meter only works in the AE (shutter priority) mode, but the camera can be shot manually. Very small, very solidly built. Can't say whether it is better or worse than any other compact 35, but it works for me.

If it is an SLR you desire, then consider a Pentax MX. This is one of, if not the, smallest SLR's ever made in 35mm. Affordable? Prices run the gamut from high to low. Pocketable? Depends on the size of the pocket, but it can be done reasonably well. After the LX this is the best Pentax ever made in my opinion.

I'm not the first to suggest Olympus XA but if you are looking for a camera to keep in your pocket it is a very good choice.

XA is an excellent choice. Also consider the XA2 for quick action without caring much about focusing. It is a zone focusing camera with three focusing options that takes care of things pretty quick. For more control over your shots XA suits better.
Both have optics that amaze with lots of sharpness, saturation and contrast.

I have a Minolta HiMatic 7S - excellent camera with outstanding image sharpness. It's my favorite rangefinder in fact, but I wouldn't call it a pocket sized camera. It's about the same size as an SLR with a standard 50mm lens.

I think egemily is looking for a true pocket film camera that has the look of an older SLR or rangefinder. I remember Canon made a 35mm film point and shoot around 1999 or so that had a retro look - can't remember the name of it however.

There is also the Olympus LT-1, and Olympus LT Zoom 105. Both a little fat but certainly a cool retro look.
