A Durst 184 with color head and some options in very nice shape, working condition.
I anticipate a possible problem with the power supply, it is the only thing that could break down.
So I'm looking for plans, in case

Great, you might look for a 240 mm lens instead of a 300-360. The 240 will cover 8x10 just fine and will give you larger prints without having to drop the table and work on your knees!

Hi Luis, thanks for your advice.
240 mm for 8x10 are you sure ?
my budget is limited, I can buy only one lens for the moment, so no mistake ;-)

Positive without a doubt! It will handle any size enlargement you can get out of the L184. I've got both a 240 Rodagon and a 240 Apo-Rodagon. The Rodagon is fairly common and a great lens! I had SKG made a Lapla adaptor for the 240 so it will fit on a regular Durst Unipla board that takes the Lapla inserts. I also have an adapter Board for my DeVere enlarger so I can use my Lapla mounted enlarging lenses on the DeVere! Durst Laplas are much more common and cheaper than the DeVere boards!
Here are the Specs direct from Rodenstock! You can't get an 8x enlargement out of your machine unless you wall project. It's optimized for a 4x enlargement, or 32" x 40"!
240 mm f/5,6 18x24/8x10" 2-8x (4x)

There's an entire thread on the big Durst on the LFF by IC-Racer. You should look into it!

I second the 240mm, I have a nice Rodagon, works perfect. There are several 240mm on the bay right now. Not sure what you want to spend, but you can buy one mint for 300 USD, other very nice lenses for less. That's about as nice an enlarger as you can get.

What do you think about Schneider Componon-S 240mm/5,6, same as Rodenstock rodagon ?
What lens board I need for these lenses ?
I saw some lens board at Glennview, but $250 !!!

I've got a 300mm Componon-S I can sell pretty cheap. The glass and aperture are perfect but there's a small ding on the front ring. It's only cosmetic though. I also have a the large Durst lens board it was once mounted on.

Here is a photo of an Unipla board for the Durst 184 enlargers. I got mine on the 'Bay for under $40. The Unipla holds one lens mounted on a Lapla board, the turret (which you have) holds 3 lenses each on their own Lapla board. This Unipla has the lugs to take the smaller Lapla boards. You can also use a flat Unipla and mount the retaining ring for the lens on it. The second photo shows a Lapla 39 on the Unipla onto which you would screw an enlarging lens with a 39 mm (Leica) mounting thread. You can find Laplas on the 'Bay-there are two Lapla 39's right now; one for under $20. The third photo shows a 240 Rodagon with a custom Lapla board on the Unipla. SKG can make the custom board for the 240 (around $165 give or take), or you might find one already made. If you don't want to wait and you've got bucks to burn, you can order a Lapla Extend II from Durst Pro USA for $256, or a used Unipla for $99! I have SKG do all of my custom machine work! The last photo shows the 240 Rodagon with the SKG Lapla board (pretty much the same as the Extend II from Durst Pro). All my lenses other than the ones that require a recessed board are mounted on Lapla boards. That way I can use them on either the Durst or the Devere (on my adaptor board)-see earlier post and photos. Hope that explains it, if not, pm me.

Do you mean you don't work on your knees in the darkroom, praying that the prints will be what you are looking for?......Regards!

Do you have this enlarger yet? Are you sure it doesn't have a lensboard or a lens turret? From the one photo you posted it looks like it has a removable turret which is really good!
Pretty much the same lens whether from Schneider or Rodenstock. I happen to have all Rodenstock lenses. My posts above talks about Durst lens boards. I'd never pay the prices the Chicago guy asks! Check the auction site and keep checking back!

Don't you have a manual? It's all explained there. You can download it from Durst-Pro-USA!

Here's the coverage chart from a Rodenstock process catalogue showing the Coverage of the Rodagon and Apo-Rodagon lenses. L

Thanks Luis, it's a great help.
I have the enlarger, it's in my darkroom now.
I don't have lens board, but the guy who sold me this enlarger give me a motorized (for focusing) turret.
Problem, this turret doesn't fit with my enlarger (the guy owns three 184 I think it comes from another enlarger)
I tried in every way, no way !

Just now I find this on the bay, I bought it + the lapla 39mm:

Post a photo of the underside of the underside of the the lens stage, where the turret would go. The last photo you posted is a a plain turret, which you can use to mount up to 3 lenses on Lapla boards. I have no experience with the motorized turret, you can probably sell it if you don't use it. I prefer the Unipla instead of the turret which mounts a single lens since it has less moving parts (none) and is easier to align. You should be able to pick one up used at auction. Once you buy a lens, I'd send it to SKG and have him make you a custom Lapla board to go on the Unipla or Turret, or if you want, I can send you a plain Unipla board which I'll never use and he can mount it on that. It has a 3 5/8" hole, but he can make a plate to cover and have the len's threads cut in the right size hole. The lens would then screw into the Unipla. This is probably a cheaper machining job than having a Custom Lapla made for the 240! If you're only going to use 1 "large" lens, that may be an option and you can mount smaller lenses on the turret each on their own Lapla board. I buy Laplas at auction when they're cheap and then send them to SKG with a lens if the Lapla's threads are different from the lens and he can cut new threads on the Lapla. You can now pick up a couple more Lapla's when they're cheap. Just make sure they're Laplas since some of the smaller ones (Sixpla, etc) won't fit the Unipla/Turret because the ouside diameter is too small. Recessed laplas are called Setoplas. A 2839 Setopla has a a 28 mm recess and 39 mm threads. You can use those on the Unipla for lenes that need a small recessed board, but on the turret, the turret probably won't turn because the board will stick out too far. You'll have to mount the Setopla on the hole in the turret that's at the front. This will make more sense when you get the turret in hand.
