Thanks. Is there a version that is under $50? $136 is nice but it's a mono tool. I'd be using it for one thing.

I got mine used on eBay for relatively little money - but that was when shipping and fees were lower.
I see them used regularly on local Craigslist.
Cutting mats is a surprisingly satisfying + demanding tasks - and custom cut masks can make prints that much more special!

Also check your local thrift stores; I found a medium size Logan that appears to have been used once and then donated.

There is the Logan 440-1, which is basically the straight edge with a mat knife and cutter that fits into the 40 inch straight edge, but it is $80 new, so not so much of a savings when the extra money gets you a full-blown mat cutting system.

All depends on your budget and cutting desires...

If you were local:
https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van/art/d/vancouver-matte-cutter/7639410567.html
note: it should be "mat cutter" not "matte cutter", and that the listing is in the "Arts and Crafts" category.

Went old school, good enough for government work I suppose

Not exactly elegant but I think it'll hold. I had to sand down one of the rolls of paper to get it to fit. Trick is to roll it up really tight and then cut it.

FCK127 is pretty good at slicing, clean. But I still do the re-spooling in change bag.

You might also want to get their Penso 127, if you want simple scanning solution for Epson V-series scanners.

These are the absolute cheapest calipers that I could find that I could get my hands on. I don't think I could have done worse, an upgrade is needed. I need something cheap simple and reliable. This was a stopgap tool. And it worked well enough.

This is what I have, it works very well and is still accurate after nearly 10 years of use. Not as convenient to read as digital, but I would be worried the digital ones would crap out after a few years.

Much better than mine. I have trouble reading the numbers on my thing.

I have emailed them several times asking about backing paper, never got a response. Can you let me know what you did to get a response?

oh my god I need this for slitting 70mm/5” film into 120/220! What is it called, and do they still make it?

get xkaes slitters on etsy. i have everything possible from 70mm to 35mm. he can let also 126/127mm (5 inch)be made(in china). no need to search for producer he is world-reseller. be aware there were two formats around.
I have also still agfa 126mm. no slitter. no cam.
if only someone could 3d-print a slitter-holder. some sort of spooler like linhof made for 70/126/127mm. to sppol down from larger cores. there was once an offer for multiples of them cheaply- i only bought one. made for darkroom. in official linhof catalogue from that time 80/90ties.
e.g. i have one and two bladed 70/61.5mm version. on the one bladed perforations if cut away on one side and can be used on rsp-120-70mm spool in cartridge to work with spacing mechanism. i have a 70-120 shim-solution to add shims onto both kodak (with clamp) and linhof(thicker core and slit)spools for 70-61.5mm difference. 3dprinting house in italy found who can send cheaply to usa.

I have a slitter from him, however at times it can be a bit difficult. And as far as 5”/125mm film, I have emailed about it, and due to limitations of the design he is unable to make one for me. But, I am happy with my slitter, as for the most part, it does extremely well at cutting the film to the right width, only occasionally making a bad edge.

Also, not sure where you’re getting that he majes them in China, fairly confident he makes them with a CNC machine here in my home state of Colorado.

maybe he transferred production. once had a contact from china. he told he is his producer. could have been fake. earlier price was quite too low. could imagine he really let it be made there and he had the propery. so transfer tech to usa most probably. next step would be creating a spooler. my friend had an idea but we didnt discuss. also thought about using the Alden 70mm loader. maybe he is about the create a new design. never used these slitters really only for testpurposes. i am about to study the chinese filmfactory and ask questions what they are willing to do. best would be offering 70 and 61.5mm longroll film and paper, also unprinted and delivering them i needed width. could then add paper to make 70mm paper-film to match in 130 cams. advantage: longroll and 60-70mm image(original 72-73mm) versus 59mm max in 61.5mm/120/220 size. i once saw that big size in a chinese pancam. remember: roundshot 70mm/60mm min.. a bit more unperforated. 120/220 only 54mm. in certain roundshot due to design smaller filmsize leading to cut lower image angle(inside camera upper part. thats where the filmwidth is generated. its more nasty when camera can only shift upwards. seen at munich oktoberfest when i had the 70mm/400 asa filmdrama and could only use 220 inside. was a multiple big drama with dilletants not at work. 70mm/400 and 220/400-drama. switzerland and usa involved.
