Looking for 127 Spools and Backing Papers

I have a handful of spools but no backing paper. I've been trying to cut my own but I've not been having any luck. Just need a handful of backing papers really.

Anything out there?

Hmm, wondering what the trouble is. I have cut 35mm backing paper for my 828 cameras from 120 rolls several times, and haven't had any issue except a little too much frame spacing (I use the numbers from the 6x4.5 / 16exp strip, you can get about 12 on an 828 spool). If you use the 12-number strip from the 6x6 exposures---wait, that's in the middle of the 120 roll, so you'd have to trim both sides. Is that the issue? A standard mat cutter gives ~30" of very straight cut, and if you slipped up around the beginning of the next 30", it'll be within the roll, so doesn't make too much difference.

What's a mat cutter? I have a guillotine style paper cutter. The one with the giant knife on the side. Fun to use but it's no good for paper.

Thanks. Is there a version that is under $50? $136 is nice but it's a mono tool. I'd be using it for one thing.

Since the backing paper doesn't have to be cut in the dark, with attention to detail you could likely cut it pretty nicely using a metal straightedge and an Exacto knife on one of those self-healing cutting mats. A handy addition might be a couple of clamps to hold the straightedge in place.

Unless one already owns some of the various items, it's still a bit of an investment. I prefer stainless steel to aluminum for the rulers/straightedges as they are harder to nick with the knife and less likely to mark things. But just now I didn't discover any longer than 12 inches listed where I would normally look.

It also might be possible to build a slitter with razor blades to function similar to those used to cut film down for Minox, etc.

I use this old ribbon cutter that my mother had to cut down backing paper. Then I just mark the frame numbers with a marker pen.

Harbor Freight sells a 40 inch aluminum ruler for $4.99 USD.

Yeah, it's aluminum, but its only $5.

Cigar cutter did not work for me. I've tried it a few times, it's not a clean enough cut.

I use this old ribbon cutter that my mother had to cut down backing paper. Then I just mark the frame numbers with a marker pen.

Looks like I'm forming a plan with a 40 inch yardstick, xacto knife, a couple clamps, and a table.

A metal ruler is mandatory-- wooden rulers aren't particularly straight. Some C- or T-stock aluminum might also work; L-stock would probably be too floppy.

No, I haven’t. Might have to try it, but I don’t know how well that will work.

I doubt they still make it, I think my mother bought it about 40 or 50 years ago. I have it stashed away somewhere, I’ll try to find it to see if there’s any markings on it.

Another variant used in fabric slitting is called a "Pinker" machine, but they don't seem to offer the width that would be required and would have to be modified.
