I've been looking, more like lusting, at adding a med format camera. all my film shooing is done on 35mm and im happy. but as my girlfriend says, size does matter. i was thinking that a 645 would be nice but my local camera shop got a whole pentax 67ii system in. 3 bodies, all with the new metered prism as well as many lenses. gotta say the 800mm lens looks more like a telescope especially in the case! anyway i thought it was not that large and many people show great hand held shots with this set up. so i started looking more into a 67 system. on Craigslist i found a local dealer with w 67 system with mirror lock up and a few lenses for sale also.

so my question is which system would be a better deal. I would use the meter in the prism as i dont have a hand held one, but i could add one if necessary. so here is what i can get:

1) pentax P67ii. body, the new metered prism, Wood camera grip and a 105 lens for $999

or

2) Super Complete Pentax 67 Camera Kit (direct from the post) for $995

This equipment is in MINT condition and of course has our 30 day warranty against defects.

Outfit includes:

• Pentax 67 body with mirror-lock up option (preferred)

• Meter prism finder

• Wood camera grip

• 90mm f/2.8 standard lens

• 55mm f/4.0 wide-angle lens

• 135mm f/4.0 Macro lens

• 200mm f/4/0 telephoto lens

• Rt. angle viewfinder

• Lens shades

• Filters

• Camera strap

• Aluminum Pentax brand carrying case.

I could also just wait for a better buy as its not like i need it, just want it. I would also need to ffind a way to scan my negs as i have a 35mm only scaner. can get an epson 750 or just outsource the best negs for scanning. this adds a little cost to the system but a needed one as i only use a hybrid process (except when i can take a photo class at the local Junior college).

thoughts? the main difference between the two is the in camera meetering and the automated shooting modes of the p67ii. i also read a little about winding issues in the older 67 models which seems to have been fixed in the 67ii system. any other important differences? i would add a 55mm and most likely a 200 if i got the 67ii system that colmes with 1 lens. i mainly shoot landscapes so a tripod is with me more often than not.

if the 67ii is in good condition I would say that is the better deal. Then you don't need to worry about getting a better meter than the older one and you don't have to buy some stuff you don't want.. like an aluminum camera case, right angle finder and the 135 macro.
that is my vote

Check the lenses on the outfit to see if they are the latest models. If so it makes it a better buy compared to older lenses. Good info at Dead Link Removed

You cant go wrong with both of them, and it's hard to choose hmm.
I prefer the second set if I dont do much streetlife and use much handheld spotmeter.
