Hello

I would like some help formulating a Rodinal substitute that would last more than parodinal, using paracetamol tablets (they are really cheap here)!

would potassium salts improve the durability?

Thanks for the answers

When I've made paRodinal from the formula Donald Qualls posted a few years ago, the stock solution seems to have had a long life, not unlike Rodinal, but I haven't kept it around as long to test. Have you found yours going bad?

Well, seems there was a sudden break in activity after a 5-6 months, costing me a few 4x5, i would not mind to make less quantity and do it more often, but i would much prefer not. Also i would like to introduce this developer in my school as it´s main developer, and it would be nice to last a bit longer.

Thanks

There are times where being really economical just isn't economical. For use in a school, the boring old developers we all know well can make a lot of sense.

1. They work.
2. They are reliable.
3. They are well understood.
4. They don't have sneaky behavior.
5. Information on their use is widely available.
6. They do not cost all that much.
7. No one will criticize you for teaching darkroom skills with developers like D-76, HC-110, or Rodinal.

Boring is good, sometimes.
