We hear about the Appalachian Mountains on TV and radio quite frequently.Close. West Virginia......but the Maryland/West Virginia border is 15 minutes north.

Hi Martin,Interesting. The Appalachians are old worn green mountains with high peaks in the 2000 meter range instead of the stark cragged monoliths like many ranges. There's a 3500 KM trail running the length of it. I've not hiked the whole thing but have hiked a portion. The time and money commitment is considerable. Tried to find a photo for ya but nothing on the computer. Nice place to live. If you'd like to know more about the people that populate the southern portion here's an excellent source. Those old mountain people get a bad rap from the press. They're amazing resourceful generous people who live(d) a simple life.
Anyways post up more photos. Or do you have a site?
