The options are:

Ian has made a generous offer to host an evening meeting at his home for a limited number of us. So I thought we should poll to ascertain interest and numbers. The idea is to meet at either Ian’s or a central London location after work. If the latter then the venue will probably be in a pub for a social couple of hours, maybe show prints and chat. This could be an evening meet, say 6 to 9pm. Alternatively we can meet on a weekend, say 2pm to 5pm Saturday or Sunday, again in a suitable hostelry.

If the response is in favour of visiting Ian then I shall obviously leave it to him to take the idea forward, on the other hand if sufficient favour a meeting in a pub or the numbers are too many for Ian, I will arrange something with a little help from my friends.

I shall let this poll run through to the year end, we can then see what the consensus is.

I have voted for the weekend as it gives us a little more time. I also voted for Ian's kind offer. However, as someone said before, there may be too many of us for Ian to accommodate?

I've found a good reason to need to visit my work's London office about 2 weeks into January, so I can probably make this

A Saturday appears to be favourite, but I will go with whatever is decided if possible. Are we talking of a meet in January, and any idea's as to a venue that can fit us all in?

I think we should let the poll run to the month end and then talk of a date, and venue. Delphine has discovered a promising closet that looks like it will take everyone. More anon.

a promising closet
:D so kind :D

Saturday seems to be the preference for a social meet in London.

There is a small pub, off the strand, with a room (although not that small !) on the first floor. As the pub is off the main street, it is a quiet place.
The lemon tree

Streetmap to get there

The Lemon tree is very central, 10-15 mins walk from Waterloo station, crossing over Waterloo bridge, two stations away from Victoria, and minutes walk from Embarkment.
So hopefully, the location will be convenient for all.

Probably Sat 26th Jan at 2pm; it gives enough time for people to recover from y/e festivities and to get organised to make it on the day.

I'll need to know asap , and have a rough idea as to how many people will be coming so that I book the first floor room.

So a post back would be appreciated :D

Best

Delphine

Hi,
Thanks for organizing. I'll be there, or any venue in town.

Cheers JON.

I'll be going along with dsullivan if he can get out of working weekends that day. So add another 2 to your count.
Are we bringing prints? I could bring one of my physautotype-on-glass maybe...

Heather, yes bring your prints along !:D
I'd say that it is an informal social meet so there is no pressure to bring prints along.
There is natural light (windows) and the room lighting. I am going there later to check the spotlight (I remember two), otherwise I'll bring in a natural light lamp on the day.

Heather, can you bring your cyanotypes too? :D

Can do. Any requests for which ones or types of paper? I'm working with some red paper at the moment but have some other more traditional (white) papers around, though nothing posh like aquaelle or cranes or arches or whatever they're called that are 50quid a packet  I'm a cheapskate...

I have another photo-group meeting in London scheduled for the 26th already... I will try to pop in for a quick chat either on the way back or on route to the other one.

Happy New Year to you all - Mark
