Hi @musihsira!

The project got slightly out of hand and I ended up with multiple versions of the inserts

Send me your email in direct message (although this might be prevented by the system since you are a new member?) and I’ll mail you my files. I did them in Autodesk Fusion, but if you don’t have Fusion (it is free for personal use) I can probably export the files in your desired format.

@brbo - if you initiate a Conversation with @musihsira , they will be able to respond to it and communicate with you within that Conversation without problem.

There is thingiverse to post stl files, the standard for 3D printing. If you did this and would post the link here, it would be accessible for everybody and seen the notority of this site, nearly forever. I have (let) printed those files multiple times, it's easy...

@MattKing, I figured that and already provided @musihsira with files.

@xya, I will look into that and will share the files there and also let others know here.

Anyone want to give me a quick thingiverse 101? I'm a new user so need to wait 24 hours for my thingi to be published, but franky my thingi doesn't look to hot

What else do I need to do besides uploading the .stl?

The "plain" insert is now shared at thingiverse: Lomo LC-Wide square insert

It's 0.2mm bigger in height than 23.5mm that @xya's measurement and has slightly rounded corners so images on film should in theory have less problem of slight light leaking into the corners on the negative.

Push the insert into the camera until you feel enough resistance to ensure tight fit. My insert is slightly narrower at the bottom so it should only start touching the camera's film gate opening at the end. The insert slides into the camera deep enough that it never touches the film so you can get away with prints that are rougher than what you would've wanted if it was touching the film.

It's hard to explain if you don't have a camera in front of you, but the insert only provides the vertical portion of the frame so the perfect corners are pretty much impossible to get. Most probably you might get a corner like here in the upper left corner (this is not my picture and the user is probably using the OEM insert):

I have two other designs that should make the corners nicer. I'll publish and share them here later...

Thanks, brbo! Any chance half frame will be available in the future?

Sure, I’ll do it when I”m back from work.

I checked the status on the square one after a couple of months on thingiverse. There were zero downloads so I didn’t really see the need to upload the half-frame one…

@Lmv, just remembered about my promise to do this yesterday...

Anyway, I uploaded the HF insert (two versions) now. Was too lazy to create a new project, I just added the HF files to the original --> project.

Thank you! It just hit me- anyone have any opinions on using white or lighter filament for an interior piece like this? I’m assuming there’s a reason all manufactured pieces are black

Yes, there is a very good reason why everything is (matte) black in every camera. Reflections.
