So while in a local boutique I stumbled across the Lomography section/display. Now I've no interest in the cameras at €70-€150. Already have a Holga and that's charm enough for me. However the lomo branded film seemed relatively good value.

Any idea if this is just a rebranded 'fujifilm/kodak' or some other brand. Or is it an in house product? Wondering how to expose the film. How much over should I go.

put it in

Put it in your camera and press the shutter? I suspect it's not re-branded Kodak. If it came out good, regular, normal they would be very disappointed methinks. That you found it whilst shopping in a botique should tell you something. Give it a try. It probably won't give you cooties.

It is easy to tell.

If it says made in USA it is Kodak
If it is made in Japan...
If it is made in Ch... (note only the 120)

It is all ok in my experience treat it like normal ISO.

can't help with developing as I use Rodinal 20C 60 minutes 1+100 stand - I invert once at start.

And If made in Italy it is left over Ferrania.

I have only used the "normal" color negative films myself and they work like normal C-41 film. As far as I can tell, the 100 speed 35mm is Kodak Gold 100 or maybe what they had called ProImage before it was discontinued. Haven't seen any Gold 100 in a while, though.

Its lomo- treat it that way and have fun. Worrying about it is antithetical to the Lomography oeuvre. Just use it and have a good time and post your results!

I've read in several different places that Lomography use different sources film in different batches of the same brand product, so it can be Kodak Gold one time, and Fujicolor in another. I'd be interested to know where Lomochrome comes from though.

It could not be confirmed.
As neither Adox nor Foma manufacture colour reversal film.

In Europe only Agfa offers such film.

LOMOCHROME is NOT color reversal, their ignorance of language infuriates me, this is a C-41 film... Though kodak did use the word chrome in the Verichrome name, it seems odd they chose this name, I think they got lazy and couldn't think of a "cooler" word that was C-41 and didn't care to totally throw off the film connotation that chrome means transparency.

Thank you for correcting me. I should not rely on assumptions.

Anyway, Agfa remains as only current source, otherwise it also could be Ferrania "old" stock.

It's a fairly new emulsion, it's the first of my knowledge that is not "re-branded" but actually designed by request and so I don't think it would be Ferrania. It only came out a few months ago.

Now I see, it is about the Lomochrome Purple. (My fault. I only think of that film with reference to purple.)

This film is something different, but I would rather not speculate here.

Just a nit to pick but I think they may be ignorant of the convention (or don't care) not necessarily language. There were other films called the "wrong" name before the chrome=positive and color=negative association became the standard. I think Verichrome (pre Pan) dates from that era.

The suffix "-chrome" (or -chrom) not only indicated colour reversal material as Autochrome, but also hinted at panchromatic b&w negativ materials.

EDIT: and orthochromatic materials

The suffix "-color" indicated colour-reversal materials as Agfacolor.

Humm, then why was there a Verichrome before there was a Verichrome Pan? Was the original Verichrome only somewhat panchromatic but a breakthrough for its time then Verichrome Pan was really panchromatic?

But chrome is a formal prefix it is misleading for a retailer to use it for a film class as Kodak did.

Ditto Lomo...

Marketing and military intelligence (spies) have several things in common...

But if you read (or I did) they didn't invent it, wratten did, so when they came out with the Pan version, they were using a popular name to transition to a Pan film, but that's marketing, you don't get rid of a popular film and introduce a new one with a name that's not similar to the popular one, it's smarter to continue the name.

All other chromes were E-6(or other transparency) even from other companies like fomachrome, agfachrome etc, and as someone else said "color" was common for Color negative type films like Vericolor, Agfacolor, etc.

So why not use LomoColor Purple? Because lomochrome SOUNDS cooler, and also connects to old ektachrome IR since it's supposed to look similar.

It's all marketing, but in this case, they failed to take into account the idiocy.

I've actually emailed them to ask if they are going to fix the issue somehow, or why they did something so stupid, I wonder what their reply will be.
