Yesterday I took out my new Lomograflok back and did some tests in my backyard with the monochrome Instax wide film on my field camera. It’s a weird film but I kind of like the look, so I want to shoot more. Only problem was that toward the end of the pack, the back started ejecting multiple exposures for no apparent reason…I had to turn the back off to interrupt this. Then when I turned it back on, it behaved normally at first - it ejected the frame just shot, but then kept ejecting more blank exposures.

Has this happened to anyone? The only thing I can think of is that the batteries may have been running down. Actually, come to think of it, it ejected a couple of prints with a small amount of chemical goo on the outside too.

Well, I just got it, so I guess I could ask for a return. About half of my first pack of film was wasted. Wonder if it was the back or or the film.

You can check inside if there are any goo leftover on any parts of the rollers, which might cause the sheets to stick together. So a thorough cleaning with high concentration medical alcohol. Then try a fresh in-date pack to see if this happen again.

My Lomograflok is sparingly used, so no such problem so far.

No visible gunk inside, so I guess I’ll just try again. FYI, I got the film on special from B&H - it is expired, but only by three months. This shouldn’t be the cause, right?

No, 3 months isn't a problem, and if it was B&H, they should have stored it in ideal condition...

That back has been nothing but headache for me. 7/10 shots I would have uneven developments. After putting about 7 packs through the rollers jammed and one of the gears inside broke. I got the kickstarter early version it's long out of any warranty/return window.

I'd return it and save the headache.

Good to know. I’d be really disappointed if I can’t get this to work; I actually really like the look of the monochrome film, and I want to do some selective focus stuff on my Chamonix.

I had a different problem with mine—it wouldn’t always eject the dark slide of the film pack. Lomo sent me a new one, no problem. I think I may have experienced your problem of multiple ejections in cold weather though. It’s been a year so I can’t remember for sure. There is a Lomograflok forum on facebook where people often share issues.

Mine has been fine, despite getting dropped twice (my Graflok converted Speed Graphic is a little imperfect in holding the LomoGraflok) and requiring the pull grip glued back to the straightened dark slide both times...

Thanks, I will check that out. It actually was quite cold on the day I had that problem - not quite freezing, but close to it. I did some more shooting the other day in warmer weather, and the problem didn’t recur.
