Be curious to test drive one, but I think for quality 'pancake' lenses, I'd go this route instead:

I've seen that. Very cool lens. For compact 35 I have a wonderful 35/3.5 Kyoei W.Acall I bought from an APUGer with hood and viewfinder for around same price as this Lomo offer.

Did miss out on the "Premium Russian optics" from Lomo though...

Lots of competition at that price point...including a bunch of P&S cams that are practically free.

I scoffed at it. I wouldnt buy a lomo lca because they are overpriced for what i do. I hope lots of people buy them though.

The black one looks ideal for street shooting.

Excellent point BB. I once went out shooting street with my chrome FM2 and was belittled by every photographer I came across. Never do that again.

I admit, it will be nice to have this lens in black at my M4-2, while I'm strolling with it on the streets.
But color of the lens and size of the camera is only factor for amateurs in the street photography.
Check on Winogrand, HCB and Maier gear.

You sure? My black gear takes much better photos than my chrome gear..... ;-)

Maybe, but three times the money,

And from what I have seen, 'quality' is not exactly a word I'd use to describe MS Optical lenses. Quirky, neat, interesting etc. Yes. But quality?

At least w the Lomo Minitar it is a lot cheaper. And if it is complete garbage - and not in the expected way - it can be returned for refund.
