If you want to protect your prints for a very longer time compared to print on paper , you can get inspiration from worldwide printed 2500 different banknotes on polymer or say plastic. They are extremelly resistant to chemicals, scratch,tear . I selected Canadian banknote printed on BOPP film ,

By the way , illuminescent polymers , organic compounds list could be obtained from Aldrich and researched in www.alibaba.com later.
Some chemicals are required to be mixed safer solvents , some mixes with solvents like chlorıoform. Above attached paper gives a wide view on technology and application in an highschool.

By the way , local illumination could be done with papers with local back masking and a light box. I agree with that but you
cant roll the lightbox in to your package and send to customer but flexible plastic with electronic extremelly thin backlit
- and if that circuit been laminated - could be a very sexy application.

If you can manage to find a thin film transistor layer circuit schematic and if you can manage to print on your plastic film than spin coat the limuniscent polymer , you can create a digital lighted image at back of your print.

Variations , possibilities are limitless.
