Selection of paper will probably make the biggest difference. If you are looking for a clean black background, that should be fairly easy. If you are looking for a clean, neutral black with detail, that is tougher. I've found that Fomatone in selenium can give pretty good blacks. (there was a url link here which no longer exists) is an example. Slavich without toning also gives good blacks, but it is hard to get any detail in the shadows....which may be just what you are looking for.
