Lith chemicals in Canada

Can anyone point me to a source for lith chems in Canada? Most sources in the US won't ship them here.

BH Photovideo in New York shipped the 0.5L Fotospeed LD20 chemistry to me here in Victoria just before the New Year. I chose (with some trepidation) shipping by UPS Worldwide Saver and it arrived 2 days later. Fortunately, the Worldwide Saver shipping by UPS includes brokerage, so I only had to pay the GST on the value of the shipment. I've had other things shipped by UPS Standard before, and ended up paying ridiculous brokerage fees to UPS. So all in all, a very good experience.

Talk about a frustrating experience! Eight Elm does not handle Lith chems any longer. The Camera Store in Calgary has the chems Rollei Super Lith), but apparently can't ship them anywhere. Blaze Photography brings the stuff into Canada for distrubution, but doesn't currently have any in stock. Incidently, he ships his Rollei stuff to Calgary. Go figure. It looks like B&H is my only option, because for some reason they can actually ship to Canada (for a large fee), whereas Freestyle says they can't. Photgrapher's Formulary has kodalith powder in stock, and can ship here, but I've read that this isn't the best option for Lith printing. Talk about suffering for your art

Freestyle must have changed their policy because I ordered lith from them last year. Bummer. If you're good at making your own brews, perhaps JD Photochem here in Montreal can at least ship to you the chems you need. Good luck! By the way, I don't have a lith recipe for you...maybe someone else here does?

Hello thebanana,

Photo Central is of course the best solution. If you are just looking for pit-run A/B powder, Ultrafine has it and has shipped it to me (Fort Smith, NT) in the past - no hazmat. Henry's used to have Kodak A/B dev., but no longer shows it. Furthermore, their D-19 (different issue) has almost tripled in price in the last couple of years. I could never figure out why D-19 was so much cheaper in Canada?? Now I can't figure out why it is so expensive. No, it is not just the exchange rate.

In short, Andrew's your best bet.

I tried more than once, and had always been happy with the service I'd had with previous orders, so I've been assuming he went under. Anybody recently made/recieved an order through him?

I feel your pain. Almost all the stores in Edmonton don't carry anything. I can't even get photo paper in the city, so I have to order out of town.

I almost completely forgot that Rob at www.bigcameraworkshops.com may be able to get you some stuff. I have yet to order from him, but have emailed him a few times and he seems like a stand-up guy who has good prices on shipping from what he tells me.

That's who I was going to suggest when I first read this thread. I've been wracking my brain (not wise at my age) trying to remember another place in Quebec that stocks a wide range of photo chemicals and promises shipping across Canada... Could have been JD after all. They seem to have a good customer service dept.

You'd think I was importing nuclear waste, given the responses of some other big name suppliers.
