I thought i'd ask real people interested in analog photography, instead of Google with its sometimes outdated and out of touch reviews. What, in your opinion and/or experience are the best places to get a film camera repaired in the US?

I know the Leica Shop is one of the best in the world for vintage camera stuff, but that's in Vienna. (it's a gorgeous store though--I'll miss that place!)
I know Essex camera is gone with hurricane Sandy.

What else is out there and current? I'm curious. :D

I think it depends entirely on exactly what you're wanting repaired. My newest bit of camera gear is a Nikon D7100, from 2013. Yesterday I received my latest purchase, a 1926 Gundlach Korona view camera. My oldest is an 1845 Ross Petzval. Quite a range there, and I doubt any one place could fix every one of them. There are shops that specialize in Leicas, Rolleis, Compound shutters, etc. Not sure there is a generically "best" repair place.

Kent in SD

You can 't leave out Flutot's.

Welcome to APUG.

I'd add Youxin Ye (www.yyecamera.com) for Leica and Canon RF
And Garry's Camera (www.garryscamera.com, somewhat mixed reviews online, but I've had good results) for inexpensive SLR repairs

By in large, we're in the age of the specialist for much of our repairs. Not necessarily a bad thing.

That's what I was expecting to hear, but I had no idea about most if not all of these guys. Keep the positive recommendations coming guys; I'll have to bookmark this thread!

Thanks guys! I'll have to check those out once I get back to the new england area in September.

I received good service on a Canon FTbn from Steve at Camera Clinic in Sparks, NV. Will definitely send him more gear.

I second the service from Mark Hama on my Yashica MAT-124G.

Anyone have experience dealing with the KEH repairs department? They seem to be more expensive than most. I sent my Fuji GW690II to someone (not KEH and I will not name them) for CLA, and the camera was damaged on return due to very poor packaging. Unfortunately I never pursued it with them for recitification, which is my fault. I now want to send it out again as it seems that the focus linkage is worse than before.

I had a few repairs done by Sanford Camera Repair in Arlington. They are on Mass Ave between Arlington Center and Arlington Heights (Brattle Square).
