Liquid Teflon dry film lube?

New to minor camera repairs, I found some posts here mentioning Dupont liquid Teflon dry film lube.

Any tips on making sure I would use it properly?

In the recent past, on "low-fi" machines, I used tiny amounts of high-quality sewing machine oil, but I can see it could lead to problems in the wrong places.

Incidentally it seems the big box stores don't carry it. I may try a well-supplied local bike shop.

It’s a great oil-replacement lubricant. Two suggestions: make sure old lube is properly cleaned away and don’t use too much. I get mine at bike shops.

what would that work on in a camera? only a very few lubricants will not gum up the works over time.

I use it on shutter and aperture blades, It must be thoroughly dry before assembly or the parts will stick to one another but break free easily and remain free afterwards.

Thanks @shutterfinger I was not able to find the Dupont brand locally, so the TriFlow is another option.

Funny, I am screwing around with A Eumig 8mm projector (nice build), and the take-up spindle seems like it needs lube..!

What is sold to consumers is a suspension of Teflon powder in a binder and solvent. Thus the result is a film of the binder containing Teflon particles.

Yes the name is misleading.

Generally, this reminds me how there are a vast array of fantastic industrial-grade products, made by 3M and the like, that are just not available to the average person. You just hear about them like " we use xyz at work and it was designed just for that, works great!".

AgX... “liquid” is a euphemism used in the title. Of course you are correct, but you are being too literal. It’s labeled as “dry lube with Teflon”.

yet it’s liquid... until it dries.

My comment was not meant to hint at an euphemism, but to indicate that one neither yields a true Teflon film nor a just a layer of Teflon dust, but rather something inbetween.
