Linhof Technika IV viewfinder question

My viewfinder needs to be tightened so that it does not slip off the "shoe". Any ideas?

After mine fell off once, I tried to see if there was a way of tightening it, and I couldn't find it. I guess if it's really loose you could add a layer of tape to the bottom of the shoe to snug it up a bit.

ok here is a thought. paint the bottom of the foot with clear hard nail polish. let it dry well and try it for fit. keep building up the polish until you get a more snug fit.

Or thin brass shim stock. Cut to size.
I've used thin wire bent to fit around back of mount & over front of camera.
Basically a "U" shape with small "feet" at the front edge.

Solution found

I just replace the bellows on this camera and was feeling gutsy so I decided to remove "shoe" and found two tension springs underneath. I bent these a bit and reassembled. This did the job.

If anyone is going to try this to their Technika let me suggest that when you reassemble the shoe hold it upside down, place each spring in its slot, use a q-tip to put a dollop of grease or vaseline on both ends of the two springs. This will hold the springs in place when inverting and positioning the "shoe" on the body of the Technika.

Thanks! While my finder wasn't loose, it certainly wasn't tight either. It is now On my camera, there was enough grease already on the springs that I didn't need to add any to hold the springs when replacing the shoe.
