Linhof Master Technika 3000 ?

The replacement for the Technika 2000 has been available for several months. Has anyone handled or used one, and can you comment on its wide angle capabilities and ease of use with a 58 mm lens?

Henry, are you sure about that? Their website isn't showing anything new. The Classic is still available and the 2000 is also as far as I know. Perhaps they are experimenting with something for future production?

There's definitely a MT 3000 - you need to look at a PDF on the Linhof website.

It supposedly has cams for the 47 and 58mm, making it quite easy to use with the extremem wide angles. The focusing level for the inside track is gone, and has been replaced with a focusing knob on the outside of the body.

I haven't actually handled one, but if one fell into my lap, I wouldn't complain. In the meantime, I'll have to plug along with my plain 'ole MT

Infinity stops, not cams. It doesn't have a rangefinder, so it doesn't use cams.

So looking at their description, it looks like focusing on the 3000 would have to done from the groundglass? The MT Classic and the older Technika IV and V have the rangefinder with the option of using cams for focusing. This is great when using the camera hand held, like the old press cameras. So the 3000 looks like it is suited to using very wide angle lenses and better adapted for digital backs (which I have zero interest in). Maybe they will come up with a rangefinder version.
Until then, I will stick with my old 50's vintage Technika IV.

Yes, the 3000 is an update of the 2000, which was designed to be a rugged field camera with built-in wideangle capabilities, rather than a rangefinder camera like the MT, Tech IV, and V.
