When I went to pick up an easel that I bought of ebay the seller said "can you use this". Never being one to pass up a freebie, however useless, I took it.
It's an extension rail with a standard. The standard is Linhof badged and has rise and lateral shift. The rail is tubular, about 2ft (51cm) long with an internal diameter of 1 3/4" (45cm) and external diameter of just under 2" (50cm). There is a slot running the full length. Does anyone know what model this could be from and secondly is there anyone on APUG who could use it. I'm looking to get into 4x5 but at a price range cheaper than Linhof so if anyone can use this let me know.

Without measuring this sounds very much like the rail on an old Kardan. Are you able to post a pic, or accurate dimensions?

Unfortunately (fortunately?) don't have a digital. The measurements are pretty close to within 2mm. I had a look around the web and although the rail is similar to one of the colour models the standard is completely different. I'll try and borrow a digi and post a photo.

If it's painted a cream white, it's probably from a Linhof Kardan. These models aren't TOO expensive anymore, but accessories, lens boards, etc, will set you back a bundle. Dean
