Linhof 45 Master Tech. Compendium Hood question!

Simple (dumb) question as I just picked on up pretty cheap locally--How does this thing mount to the camera ? Front standard yes --but where and to what? The rod goes where?

There should be a triangular metal piece with two pins that mounts to the top of the front standard. It just snaps into the two holes on the top of the standard. The rod is held in the metal piece by a thumbscrew.
