In order to reduce my darkroom water consumption I have installed a simple timer on the supply tap to my NOVA print washer.

water timer

By timing how long it takes to first fill the tank, I can work out how long I have to set the gadget for to achieve the desired number of water changes. May be of interest to others. The link is to a UK suppler, but I'm sure this sort of thing is available in most countries.

Neat !

Dave, I think you should write a product review on just how you use their product.

It would be interesting to see if they leave your review on their site!

Mick.

Why should they not?

They unit is a simple clockwork valve, roughly calibrated in 15 min sections up to 2 hours. It fits on the water tap and has the wash-tank hose connected to it. I simply turn it to the setting for the wash duration that I want to commence the wash cycle. The unit turns off the water supply after the preset time. I suggest timing the tank fill time so that you can calculate how long to leave the water running for say 6 cycles, or you can let it run for your chosen time. It simple removes the danger of me forgetting to turn the water off.

Hmmmmm, point taken, I just thought as it is a garden supply item they might frown upon the usage, but with reflection, it actually enhances it's selling possibilities.

I've a garden type which shuts off after a pre-set
number of gallons have passed. Haven't seem them
on the market for years. Now days, AFAIK, they are
all timer types. Dan
