Even cheaper than that kit is buying a P&S from a garage sale for $1 and hacking at it with a power drill...

Effects caused by light leeks and other variations of exposure and process control can lead to aesthetically pleasing images. However, to produce a camera with built in light leaks or any other fault variation is tantamount to trying to give instant art, which it is not (or could be). Perhaps it should be described as an attempt at marketing the aesthetic. For most people involved in trying to produce an artistic image, it misses the point.

The thing is, if you were to fix the light leaks, it looks like it could make some really nice photos. I'm impressed by how sharp those shots are.

What about a camera with a kind of valve? Keeping the darkness from leaking out, but still letting light in...

I can get any well built camera to have light leaks once the light seals need replacing or the camera is dropped. I fail to see what the product brings to the market other than to line the inventor's and manufacturer's pockets.

If I am going to roll my own I think I want a much bigger negative than a puny 35mm to make it worth the effort.

It's like microsoft windows. The leaks are not a bug, but a feature.
