Awesome! Really excited to see everything is done in-house! I know that outsourcing finishing has lead to absolute disaster sometimes.A rather short one, and long, long overdue updates... But we are changing the post output from seasonal/monthly to weekly/bi-weekly!
Film Project Update IV: Finishing And Packaging
Hello Everyone, We want to bring updates to our film projects. As summer has progressed, we have made several progress in preparation of our film project. One of our main goals is to manufacture our components in-house, including film canisters, spools, backing paper, and packaging, by...lightlenslab.com
The videos worked absolutely fine for me, I’m on the chrome app on iPhone. I think you were having similar issues before so I think whatever browser you’re using just doesn’t like the videos. Thanks for the update @Light Lens Lab ! And congrats on the progress.
FYI: the videos on the web page didn't load for me; I get this error message:
View attachment 406075
However, I could still play the videos by copying the location into VLC. They showed some 3D renders of the 35mm cassettes and 120 film spools. Very recognizable designs.
It works OK on Chrome and Edge, not on Firefox. Firefox is fairly strict when it comes to correct declaration of MIME types; probably for security reasons.I think you were having similar issues before so I think whatever browser you’re using just doesn’t like the videos.
This! I have also asked about custom width backing papers for older roll formats, I was told that it’s a solid maybe, depending on demand. If you also create some non-reactive backing paper there is potential to be a provider for the other film manufacturers. Might be a chance given the problems encountered the last years with mottling and printthrough.
Yup! They have said 220 is seriously being considered, I’ve asked. And, because I am a user of the larger medium formats (6x9), even in a future, it might be a way to manufacture 220. Methinks a serious yet small scale project could be able to do this. Own backing paper does with the MOQ legacy issues, then something between huge industrial and manual spooling for right sized manufacturing.
Can you confirm that:Over the summer, we successfully synthesized black-and-white Peel-Apart film dyes, and we have now continued our research on the synthesization of Blue, Red/Yellow, and Green dye necessarily for Color-Peel Apart Film.
Thanks for this update; I'm sure many will be thrilled by this! Looks very promising indeed.
Can you confirm that:
1: A B&W peel apart film of your making will indeed be dye-based?
and
2: The color dyes will indeed be blue, red/yellow and green, instead of the more common cyan, magenta and yellow?
