I just printed from an old 35mm negative and that got me through the day... It was a shot that would have looked nice had it been taken on 4x5, but at least it was Panatomic-X

Gah, Panatomic-X is the one no longer made film I've shot that actually lived up to its reputation. That and Verichrome Pan. I'll never understand Plus-X

I have one roll of 120 left too...

Wish I could shoot some in 4x5... (Did it come in 4x5? Did Verichrome Pan come in 4x5?).

I miss Plus-X greatly.
Tmax 400 is a wonderful film, but if I could get 1 or 2 old Kodak emulsions back, it'd be Plus-X and Super XX(thick emulsion)

After toying with selling my F3 outfit (with 9 Nikon lens -all AIS), I surrendered to a sudden irresistible urge and bought a F6 in mint condition. I'm in hog heaven! The F6 allows me to shoot things that would be difficult or even impossible with MF or LF. What a great camera the F6 is!

Me, too. I guess I'll go thru LF negatives and find ones I want to make platinum prints with for my next printing session. I might go thru some 2 1/4 negs too and make some tiny platinum prints.

Agreed. I down to my last few rolls of Plus-X. It will be a very sad day for me when it is all gone.

The days of shooting Plus-X in LF have been over for years now and it hasn't quite been the same since.

FP4+ is the closest to Plus-X of any current film I know.

What I liked so well about Plus-X was how well it responded in Diafine. I sometimes preferred Plus-X at 400 in Diafine to Tri-X at box speed in normal developers. So this effectively gave me a medium and high speed film in one. I could carry Plus-X and rate it at 125 or 400 with abandon depending on the light I encountered, just mark it for development accordingly.

FP4+ is a great film, and I actually slightly prefer it to Plus-X at 125, but it doesn't get more than maybe 200 effective speed in Diafine so I don't bother, I just go to a 400 speed film at need.

I doubt I'd have shot a lot of Plus-X in sheets anyway where I'm shooting off a tripod and have more control. If I wanted/needed a medium speed film in 4x5 (the only sheet film I shoot) I'd choose FP4+ or maybe Acros. Plus-X could develop a rather pronounced shoulder. FP4 doesn't, and Acros is rather the reverse having upswept highlights.

I DO have some frozen, unopened boxes of APX 100 in 4x5, frozen since bought new in the 90s except for the few hour car trip to GA when I moved. I've been meaning to try it. No, I don't really want to sell it.

Yes, that's what I've been using. But not quite the same as Plus-X or Super-XX

The closest thing to Super XX avail at the moment in terms of curve shape and linearity is Fomapan 200; but it differs in many other respects.
In practical terms, however, TMY400 is probably the most suitable substitute, and has a lot to commend it in its own right. And the closest thing to Plus-X curve-wise is probably Delta 100, but not development wise. FP4+ is an excellent general-purpose film somewhere in between.
There is no shortage of superb black and white sheet films at the moment, though an old favorite or two have obviously disappeared.

I think that was a statement... Like Duh!! FP4+??? In any format... Not questioning it's existence.
