In a fit of Friday afternoon let's do anything but work, I went to the Photo Expo website to nose around. Now I don't want to inflame the argument about the utility of attending but:

I clicked on Symposia and in the list saw LARGE FORMAT FINE ART PRINTING, I was excited until I went to the description and found:

"Creative, exquisite large-format ink-jet color prints combine an artist's eye, a craftsperson's skill and a photographer's passion. Learn how to finesse image detail and accurate color from a digital file and to prepare digital files for large-format, limited edition fine art prints......"

ARGGGGGGGGGGGG!

:rolleyes:Huh?

I thought large format meant view cameras and big negatives...

Ouch.

It's Friday afternoon, and my Deardorff was just delivered to my house. Here I sit, watching the seconds tick by, reading every thread on APUG.

Laz- I'm sitting here at 34th and 7th on the 19th floor. You close?

I'm up on 114th and Amsterdam, 7th floor. NY worlds apart.

Yea, you might as well be across the river at that distance. (ha!) I'm only two blocks from B&H!

That's it for me. I'm taking the early train. Gotta go.

I'm the 1 line and a stroll from B&H any closer and I'd be poorer than I am! Enjoy what's waiting in the mail for ya!

Hey Laz, you're a 10 minute walk from me and a 5 minute walk from my office.

"Clinical Research"--you at St. Luke's-Roosevelt?

You got it. SLR/Columbia hybrid. I'm the pediatric HIV research coordinator.

I teach at Barnard in the Slavic Dept.

Hmmmmm,

I guess the defintion of Large Format is trying to change, I always thought it involved a Large Format Camera????

I wondered because I recognized the neighborhood in your NY photos on your website. Do you recall that under the Riverside Drive el pictured in one of your photos, there was the "Harlem Bait and Tackle" ? The store front was yellow and there was such a kewl line drawing of a fish on the hand lettered sign.

I always wanted to photograph it but there was always an old broken down Volkswagan van parked right smack in front!

That's my backyard. I live in that Columbia high-rise on 125th and Riverside, just up the hill from Fairway. Shoot down there while you can before Columbia and Fairway tear it all up and rebuild. It's a really interesting area.

Here's another interesting sign from under the Riverside Dr. Viaduct--

I love it under there but if Fairway buys one more building and paints it orange and Brown I'm gonna find a different route to drive home!

The camera's a bust. An eBay deal gone bad. Bellows leaks, back is fouled up. Back it goes.

Laz- Sorry about the thread hijack. Now I gotta go dab away a few tears and look around for another camera.

Oh, well. Good luck finding a better camera.
