Let's all shoot 1 camera, Part 3?

As it was suggested that I start round 3 when I enquired, here goes.

Looking through the other threads there's been a few suggestions to improve, or at least speed up the transit of the camera. Of these the only one I feel is appropriate is for each participant to shoot 2 frames. If anyone is interested then post below, and please add your vote for either 1 or 2 frames. I'll abstain at this point and use my vote in the event of a tie.

I don't have a camera for this yet, but aim to get a b&w single use jobby (If I can find one.), failing that it'll probably be a colour one, unless something more interesting turns up.

Given the complete lack of interest there doesn't seem any point in keeping the offer to run round 3 open.

I think you just need to give it a bit more time. Also, some here probably aren't aware of the two cameras that are already making the rounds. Might want to find out what their status is.

Basically, it is a throw-away camera. The camera is sent to the first person on the list, who takes 1 picture and then sends it on to the next person on the list. This keeps going until the end of the list is reached. The last person on the list has the pictures developed and uploaded to APUG. The list is limited to 24 or 36 people. Those that sign up need to realize they are going to incure the postage costs of sending it to the next person - and this thing will go around the world to several different countries.

Go back through the Round 2 thread and look for the latecomers who didn't make it, they'll probably be interested. That's how I found a bunch of the Round 2 folks. Also, be patient, it'll take a while for people to notice the thread. In the meantime, you can discuss what kind of camera to use, what film, etc. - that'll keep the thread at the top of the list so it gets noticed ... and it's fun besides.
Round 1 used a disposable camera loaded with C41 (color) process black & white film. For Round 2 we used a very cheap Vivitar and decided on HP5+ for the film. Again, looking back through the Round1 & Round2 threads you may see some opinions and suggestions expressed.

Great, nice to see some interest I was starting to feel invisible.

I've been considering getting an old folder to use, 120 film with some control and not so heavy as to be too expensive to send overseas.

Sounds great, count me in, too! I like the folder idea and I'd vote for two frames, just because shooting is fun. In terms of what film, I'd vote for color, since the last rounds had gone b/w, and I'd love to see what the colors are in other parts of the world.

If there's still room, count me in. (Remembering that with a 120 folder there will be fewer frames, I don't know how many people you have "in" compared to the number of frames available.) If you're still looking for votes on the number of frames, I'd definately vote for 1 frame per person if you go with a 120 folder.

A smaller 120 folder that shoots 6x4,5 frames should allow for 16 frames in all, where a "standard" 6x9 folder, only 8 frames, which would be not enough I'd say...

When the round 2 camera arrives here (expected in the next week) it will be reloaded and sent on another epic journey, unless of course someone out there wishes to use 120 film for the next instead of 135

I'm certainly not insisting on sending the camera on. I may just keep it as a souvenir

The whole experience has been fun (and for me, an exercise in patience).

I just cant wait to soup it , print a contact sheet and have a first look at what the participants have created.

as yet I haven't managed to find a suitable folder, so the 120 round will be on hold for a little longer.

If you do decide to send it on another journey and if your looking for participants then please add my name to the list.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the results from the last 2 rounds.

My first thought on this thread was, "I have a Mockba 4 that isn't getting much use...complete with slide film and a mailer for processing." The Mockba only gets 8 6x9 images from a 120 roll. Also, the double exposure protection can take some getting used to.

Then I started thinking....hmm, I could get a Kiev (contax copy). I could have it sent directly to the first user, and I could be the last user. That way, when it shows up, I could tell my wife, "Oh, this is just the travelling camera project camera from APUG, not something I just purchased." Since it would take a while to get back to me, it would be a technically correct statement...

It is a sickness.

(p.s. when can we get the ULF camera that goes around the world? You know, get Ole to load up some holders and send the great Soviet Camera on it's way...I promise to send it back!)

The ULF camera could be fun - but finding a roll film holder that takes 12" film and doesn't leak could be a challenge. And the postage would be crippling too
