Can you get it in chrome? That's the deal breaker for me :D

Buy one and I can chrome it for you - it'll look just like a parking-light pod on a 1950 Buick Roadmaster.

yeah the depreciation on these lumps is supreme. they lose about 1/3 of their value the moment u leave the leica booteek

Yeah but the value of your artist’ name gains in value.

You will always gain at least 100% extra respect if you use a Leica. And add another 1-200% respect gains if you show up with a APO Summicron.

How much is your name worth depends on your work and the mention of Leica.

Possible scenario, downtown L-A.

-Look at this girl, she’s using an expensive camera...
- Meh! Sony A7, it’s shiat!
- Oh look next to her, a hipster!
- Now that’s an artist, it’s a film camera! But probably a simple amateur. Who uses Minoltas anyway?
- Yeah, i know, right? But look behind them, another hipster with a vintage camera! Probably another wannabe...
- Hold on buddy! That’s a Leica, the choice of the Pros. This guy knows what he’s doing. Look at his nonchalant stance while WATCHING the scene LIKE A HAWK.
- Looks like a tourist to me. Especially the white socks and the Birkentsocks. Maybe even a dentist.
- whoooaahh, he has a APO CRON on his Leica! Now, sir, you are watching a Magnum Photographer in Action!
This is our Lucky Day!
- Doodlidoo!

Now serious: I have seen once a guy having apo Summicron 50mm, with a digital Leica. I was having M3 with LTM 5cm Elmar at the time, and I approached him to tell him "awesome lens", but he garb the camera and lens in fear, like I wanted to steal it (even it was on the strap around the neck) - the moment he saw that I am looking at the lens. So probably if you buy one of those - you will always be afraid of damaging the lens, or stealing or whatever. I will stick to my DR Summicron .

He could've sharpie'd his camera and lens and no one would know what is was but then no one would know what it was

lol ok that did it. I now agree w everything u r saying.

Would I get that reaction if I use my Noctilux or do I have to buy the APO? And is it a better idea to just wait for the upcoming Summilux 50 APO?

Well you know what the dentist’s say: the summilux asph is apo, but just not marked as such.

No mark equals no supremacy. BTW, for $10k this lens should have been painted black.
