Yeah but as far as I know, an aperture ring has nothing to do with a decisive moment. Focus ring, maybe, but even then it doesn’t prevent a decisive moment.
This is usually where they trot out the HCB quote: Sharpness is a bourgeoise concept.Wait, so you'd pay $8000 for a lens and be happy with a decisive moment that is out of focus and incorrectly exposed? Huh.

"But I took it with this!" plays well down at the Leica Store Mayfair.
What a useless thread. I'm sorry I opened it. I don't even know what the thread is about. I searched for the Leica "Supremacy" lens and found only links to this thread. What is it?

the darkroom skill would have to be impeccable because really large prints can't really be bigger than an 8x10 with even thePut it on a tripod and make really large prints with impeccable darkroom skill.
Apo Plexicronilux, iirc. A very rare one-offdidn't tiche use a apo cron later in his career ??
or was that a apo plexi ?

most beautiful apo taking and enlarging lens... all turns to mush
hahaha! jesus, that’s really funny.Braided with thorsten’s scrotum hair
Or you could splurge for a Focomat V35 with the Leica Focotar 45...
I'm not saying that 35mm is inferior - I use it often. It's simply another tool. Every format and system has its advantages and disadvantages. Choose the right tool for the job - an M-camera is great for street photography and keeping it light, fast and silent, an SLR for sports, wildlife or macro, and for landscapes requiring movements use a large or medium format field camera. For still life a large format rail camera is the way to go, and for portraits a Medium format SLR.I find that MF doesn't have the "life" that 35mm has. But I use the ultimate 35mm enlargers & enlarging lenses.

Yep, V35 is one great enlarger. Some time ago I did a test against Magnifax with 50mm/2.8 El Nikkor:
I've got to know what is/are the ultimate in 35mm enlargers and lenses ? I have used a 4x5 Beseler forever, I used El Nikkor 50 and 63mm. I recently picked up a Apo-Rodagon never used it.I find that MF doesn't have the "life" that 35mm has. But I use the ultimate 35mm enlargers & enlarging lenses.
Yes, it's Supremacy. And, yes, it deserves.Come on, let’s talk about the Summicron’s 50mm APO Supremacy.
*Even if you’re jealous and in denial, you can participate.
Never have seen performance like that so far.
Indeed investment, in some sort.
Crazy at f/5.6
At f/2 and f/2.8, tunnel background blur. Majestic portrait lens.
At f/5.6, unprecedented sharpness all the way to the last mm. Magnificent landscape lens.

This is a true statement. Good lenses and rigidity play an important role, but the skill of the person making the prints makes all the difference. No, it has more to do with the printmaker's ability (aesthetics of specific formats aside) than format or enlarger light source or lens.
