Yes. And there are photographers who parrot arbitrary rules they don't understand. CoC should be chosen by the photographer to suit its intentions, not taken as holy writ handed down from on high.

What hasn't been stated clearly in this discussion is the importance of reasoning from the intended final print back to the negative to be made.
