I'm buying lens hoods for these lenses since I'm having flare problems.

I'm wondering if it would be better to get the low-profile vented style lens hoods or the longer, unvented and slightly longer lens hoods with smaller filter threads on the end of the hood.

I like the look of the vented hoods a little more, slightly more vintage/cooler look but not sure if they are meant more for wide angle or standard angle lenses. Usually I see the longer cylindrical hoods on telephoto lenses.

I'm under the understanding that the vented hood is for wide angles, the longer the lens the longer the hood.

And, from my experaince, if the thread size is the same you can use a 100mm hood on 135mm lens, a 135mm lens might have too narrow angle of view to work on a 100.

Thanks, will order the longer unvented hood. It's tricky finding the right hood that will create the same filter threads for both lenses so I can swap out the same ND or polarizer filter, but I think I have it figured out.
