Hello all,
I have been shooting quite a bit at night, most all the shots are in lighting conditions that have at least one streetlight, either slightly outside the frame, in one of the corners of the frame, or even in the center.

The exposures are mostly 5.6 - 8 and range from 1 second to 5 minutes.
I am using a hasselblad lens hood on an older 80mm chrome hasselblad lens.

What Im finding is quite a bit of lens flare in the shape of a triangle with a oval on top (hope that description makes sense, I will try to post a picture of the flare later)Im also getting the typical polygonal shapes as well.

Is there much I can do to control this? Different type lens hood maybe?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Mike

Greetings Mike: Forgive me if someone has already replied to your question and I just didn't see it. The condition you're describing sounds like flare off either the lens iris or lens blades. That occurs in type C or CF lenses without the newer *T coating. The newer lenses have their lens blade painted black which helps diminish that kind of flare. Sounds like what you're seeing is one lens blade. Yep. You can minimize it by proper hood or using a pro shade adjusted to the 80mm length. Or avoid shooting strongly backlit subjects.

See if that helps.
Take it light.
