I am considering getting a sony a7 as my first digital camera. I have been shooting film for a while now. I have a couple of old Nikkor Bayonet F-Mounts that I use with my Nikon F2 SLR. I also have a Mamiya 80mm Sekkor lense I use with my Mamiya 645 medium format. Are there adapters for these lenses onto sony e-mounts like the a7?

I am currently looking into the FotodioX Vizelex ND Throttle Lens Mount Adapter or the Metabones Nikon F-mount to Sony E-mount adapter for my Nikkor Lenses. Will either of those adapters work for these lenses? my main concern is whether the manual aperture set on the ring of the lens will sync with the shooting of the camera. I don't know much about how adapters work.

I am also considering the Kipon Baveyes Mamiya 645 to Sony E-mount adapter for my Sekkor lenses, but I won't be able to afford that for a while after purchasing the Sony A7. I'm pretty sure that will work just fine for my lens.

I have just ordered a Photodiox F-mount to Canon EF-S adapter. I’ll let you know how it works. You’ll have to set the aperture manually and use the camera in manual mode. I held my Nikkor lens in place and verified the shutter would work before ordering. The A7 is mirrorless, correct?

Yes, it's mirrorless, so I don't have to worry about mirror/shutter stuff all that much when adapting old lenses onto it, right?

Should be no worries, as long as you have the -M (mirrorless) adapter. I almost bought one for the new EOS M series, but caught my error in time. Photodiox adapters are supposedly better quality, but this is my first foray into manual lenses for DSLRs. Have you checked out Ken Lee's website? He's posted some gorgeous pics shot with the A7 and manual lenses.

I ended up ordered the metabones adapter and a cheap adapter for my sekkor medium format lens. I need a focal reducing adapter to get the most out of the sekkor lenses, but I'll be saving up for the Kipon Baveyes.
