I was hoping someone on this forum might be able to help.

What would the best way be to package a Leitz v35 enlarger for shipping? The original box is not available. Does the head come off, or can it be locked in place before copious amounts of bubble wrap go around it?

Any advice appreciated.

So far as I remember, mine came (20 plus years ago) with the head on the column packed on its side and the baseboard un-bolted. Best of luck.

Hi,

head can be locked. Mine came in one piece shipped in huge box, with lot of protection. It survived 500km postage except one thing: red plastic below lens - this is usually the only thing that breaks on Focomat v35 (beside bulbs).

Thanks guys for the help - and the welcome

I hope to be a more frequent visitor once i get my darkroom set up...i have a lot of (re) learning to do.

Would be helpful to know if any internal bits (condensers or whatever) are packed separately from the head.

I always thought shipping the baseboard would be a waste of money. Just get a nice big thick piece of plywood cut to size at the lumber supply. Probably cheaper than shipping the original.
