I am selling a Leicaflex SL-2. The SL-2 was last all-mechanical SLR from Leica and is said by some to be the best 35mm SLR body ever made. The Leicaflex SL-2 exhibits the usual exceedingly high build quality and fit-and-finish seen in most vintage Leica products. This camera is made in Germany.
The condition is very good cosmetically and mechanically - a very solid camera indeed. My camera tech looked the camera over recently and he told me all functions are working: meter, self timer, viewfinder, illuminator, etc. and concurred with me regarding the condition. He did point out the presence of two sort of oblong translucent blemishes in the viewfinder, that look a little like floaters in the eye (common to aged people like me), which I had not noticed before. These are transparent sort of slight shadows that are about a 1/5 of a vertical field long and maybe a 1/20 of a field wide (say 2-3 % of the viewing area). He told me they are common on older Leicaflex models. In any event I mention them for full disclosure - they will not impact use at all in my opinion, but a super picky collector type looking for bargain might object. Small blems in the field of viewfinders on old SLRs are pretty common (and rarely impact use).
The camera is sold as shown with the body cap and a small cap for the flash sync contacts (a uncommon item I am sure). The meter battery will probably require a Wein MRB625 cell for best readings, although the illuminator does work with a regular 1.5 V 625 battery.
Note that I do not accept PayPal which means this is probably restricted to USA sales only. Payment by USPS money order only.
Price: $385 plus insured shipping.
