I don't know if they were all made in Canada, but in terms of quality they're probably all great. The Germany vs. Canada question is more of a collector's concern.

The lenses made in Canada are excellent; they have the Leica quality you expect. Nothing to worry about.

I've got the Canadian-made Summicron just before the aspherical version. It's the only Canadian lens I have--and in quality of construction and optics, it's every bit as solid and sharp as my five German-manufactured lenses. It just exudes quality held in the hand, and the images are fantastic, too.

no reason that they wouldn't be of the same quality.

I have a whole set of Leica R primes, some German and some Canadian, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference apart from the engraving stating so.

Leitz products all have to meet the same quality controls, so whether made in Germany,Japan or even Portugal and Canada, they all pass the same criteria.

Workers in various countries are only as good as their company lets them be and pays the cost of...during the years when US car makers like Chrysler were making crap the workers got the blame, but they pointed out that workers don’t set the assembly line speed, design the parts or set the tolerances.

I can’t tell any quality differences in any of my Leica products.

.Ditto. Place of manufacture makes no difference. Collectors of Leicas are no different than collectors of matchbook covers, gambling chips or beer cans, rarity and completeness are the holy grail.

1. Buy a Canadian-made 90 Summicron. 2. Enjoy the savings you accrued simply because the tiny words on the bottom of the lens barrel are slightly different from those that say "Made in Germany;" that is the *only* difference in the lens or the quality of thereof. Have a laugh at those who are willing to pay large amounts of extra cash because the final word of that phrase doesn't say Canada while you're at it. 3. Use your savings to buy loads of film, and go shoot it--and enjoy the fantastic images you got from your "inferior" lens.
