I'm jumping in here to ask a simple question. I have not read ALL 75 pages of this thread, but is there a way to confirm by phone or PM that the next person in line is "ready" to have the camera? I know that sometimes time, money or life is an issue and a quick phone call or PM may help the process along. That would give the next person in line a chance to cancel or bow out. BUT having someone actually do what they say they are going to do is another matter.

On another note, I bought a Canon EOS 2000 with an 28-80 lens (auto focus doe not work) for ten bucks and would be wiling to donate for the next round.

The answer to you very good question is, emphatically - yes. This rule has been in effect for the last several rounds at least, and in every case on this specific round, contact was made and the camera was only sent out when the next person affirmatively confirmed their continued interest in the project.

We'll keep our hopes up that the camera (and Nicholai) resurface soon.

Regards,

Shawn

Shawn, maybe you should put Nicholai's email out here in public so we can all send him a message as to how disappointed we are in him for holding on to the Oly. I doubt very much sending him a PM through Apug will do any good. I took the time to review both the threads concerning this round, and find it strange he only posted once in the getting ready thread and no posts in this one. According to the logs, he hasn't posted since may of 2013. If things don't get moving soon, I will send my Pentax IQZoom to the next person in line and we can resume rotation through the list.

Nicholai has an email address in his APUG "signature": nicholainissen@gmail.com

His profile info indicates that his last activity was in August of 2013.

I hope he is okay - and that the camera moves on.

Thank you Matt, by the time I finished reading all the pages I was plenty bleary eyed, and frustrated. I have sent Nicholai an email, and ask everyone else involved in this round to follow suit. Please keep it polite.

I just sent an email asking if we can help in any way.

And Nicholai responded by apologizing and promising to ship the camera "tomorrow if possible".

Here is hoping!

That's really fantastic news.. well done Matt, Rick and Nicholai.. fingers crossed?

Maybe if you promise to send Nicholai something in return- say, something with polka dots?

You think he'd want a used speedo?

A polka dot speedo? Now you're talking..

My girlfriend wants to see me in a speedo. I wouldn't be comfortable wearing it in public, unless it was under my kilt.

Terrific work everyone. Let's keep our hope alive. Hopefully Nicholai's promise this time is for real.

Hey, I dont want anyone seeing me in a fricken speedo, for cryin out loud. I do have my dignity, and no I don't wear nuttin under me skirt.

Maybe we scared Nicholai.

Still kicking here. I've not been on in some time with life, new job title, etc... I was hoping I missed a PM asking about being the next in line to get a camera. No such luck. I'll figure out where I left off and catch up on reading the thread next week when I have more time.
I hope all are well and survived the holidays. More are always on the horizon.

Chris

Maybe we scared Nicholai.

Well, it worked!

Mr Postman delivered the Olympus to me this morning.

Can someone point me to the current list of people? I'm trying to work out how many shots should I take. It's on No. 12 at the moment on a 36 film so that would be 24 divided by the number of people left.

I also need to know who to send it to next.

OK, just found this from April.

To refresh the memory after all this time:

Camera #2 - Olympus Stylus Epic

Sile Ireland ← Camera is (finally) here!
Raphael Plougastel, France
rst Oestringen, Germany
kraker Breda, The Netherlands
nicholai Denmark
Steve Smith Isle of Wight, UK
M.A. Longmore Hartsdale, NY
jnanian Warwick, RI
Rick A Emporium, PA
Jim17x Worth, IL
zsas Crystal Lake, IL
ambaker Poplar Bluff, MO
toro_mike Englewood, CO
cdholden, Nashville, TN

We'll post an update on Camera #1 - The Leica later tonight.

Assuming it's still correct, that's two or three shots left for each of us. I will do two to leave some spare.

Steve.

Yes, indeed! Nicholai finally came through, thanks largely to John Nanian - that great Rhode Islander among us. John graciously stepped in and reached out to Nicholai and made a heartfelt appeal that worked wonders.

We have a very slight change in the list for the Olympus. For now, it is the following:

Camera #2 - Olympus Stylus Epic

Sile Ireland
Raphael Plougastel, France
rst Oestringen, Germany
kraker Breda, The Netherlands
nicholai Denmark
Steve Smith Isle of Wight, UK ← Camera now here.
M.A. Longmore Hartsdale, NY
Rick A Emporium, PA
Jim17x Worth, IL
zsas Crystal Lake, IL
ambaker Poplar Bluff, MO
toro_mike Englewood, CO
cdholden, Nashville, TN

I am certain that most if not all are still participating, including the next on the list - Ron (M.A. Longmore). I'll reach out to Jim17x and keep everyone posted.

BTW - John Nanian, who graciously brokered the deal with Nicholai to get the camera moving - has bowed out of the rest of this round. Makes me a little sad not to have one of his haunting lifescapes included, but we'll get him for the next round for sure.

Shawn
