I like the idea. Limit the list to those 'someone' deems trustworthy. We could pass two or three cameras around simultaneously. I recommend some low-end unremarkable cameras, like a Nikon EM, Canon AE-1 (I have one I'm not using), Pentax LX... Alternatively a loaded medium format camera back could be used, especially if we scare up some 220 film. (I have several spare M645 backs and 220 inserts available.)

Participant list would be fairly short, shipping cost advertised up front. Everyone sends the leader a $1000 deposit for participation, and away we go. I'll be the first leader!

On the Stylus: After hearing from Nicholai about two weeks ago, more radio-silence.

In the spirit of democracy, let's put it to a vote: we can wait for the Stylus, or we can send out another camera (it is ready to go right now). What do y'all reckon?

Aint' no fun

Willing to go with the majority on the Oly. Winter will be here shortly, and in these parts we don't get the really good snow scenes very often. So I can wait... But it would be nice to see something moving.

The Leica arrived safe and sound! Just in time for Halloween! I think its on 26 shots, how many should I take like 3-4?

Also I kinda dig the provide your own lens SLR deal, I can also offer up an olympus OM40/PC, which i used to shoot in great shape if theres enough interest with everyone to go OM lenses.

I have a nice, well-stocked used-gear shop nearby, with a 30 day return policy. Send any 35mm SLR and I can 'borrow' whatever's required. :whistling:

If you are going to go that way, why not go old school? Pentax Screw Mount. Available all over the world, cheap as dirt, funky optics available.
My fav is a Zorki Jupiter 9 85mm with M42 thread. Lots of great Takumar lens out there too.

IMO, we need to keep it simple. Not everyone has access to extra lenses for which ever camera would be chosen, so a P&S is the only way to go.

With a point and shoot we would not have the delay times as people got equipment together to go take pictures.

Or stick a dirt cheap Tamron 28-200 zoom on it.

But the P&S is cheaper to ship.

No Nikon or Olympus here... Sigh...

Do have M42, FD, EOS, and K-mount.

Both ideas are good ones. Same camera shows a differing vision with the same equipment and film. Same body lets you experience lenses that you may not have, as they might look on your camera.

Actually, I have a Fujica STX-1 sitting on a shelf that would work perfectly for this. The only forseeable problem is somebody would fall in love with the little jewel and keep it. I can see where we would be right back in the same place we're at now, no camera and getting pissed at a horder.

I got my photos in last night after work. First of the supposedly haunted St. Marks church, not sure if i got enough depth of field, but I selected +Flash mode. The others were of the annual Village Halloween Parade, one shot from the staging area, and another from within the parade procession itself (I walked the parade).

Shawn lets meet up!

Absolutely! I'll send you a PM. Friday after work? I can swing by Brooklyn or we can meet up in the city.

 I'm getting worried as to how the next camera will be done. Who is deemed "trustworthy"? I've been patiently waiting for my first chance to participate...

Well, You have not passed on the camera in a timely fashion so you are obviously "Untrustworthy".

It's not worth worrying about. All these cameras have these little glitches. We lost two cameras in the mails in the same week. Sile has the only camera that has made more than one round successfully, it has made three. It's now in the "Irish We all shoot one camera Hall Of Fame".

Take a deep breath, think of where you are going to shoot your masterpiece and wait, like all the rest of us.

I think you've misunderstood me. I've never actually participated before. I'm waiting for camera 10 but it just seems like you folks are closing the gates on us newcomers.

We're not closing the gates on anyone, it's always been and will continue to be a crapshoot.

I understood completely.

You might be disqualified for not having a sense of humor, a serious qualification element.

Nawww. Those who have participated have never been very good at getting a camera around, so not letting in new people will only ensure the status quo.

They were just talking about a more valuable camera going just to those who have shown that they will send the camera on.

sorry, but it's often easy to misinterpret humor for seriousness online

So now you know, assume humor at best and gross stupidity at worst. We have it all on this thread. I haven't said it before, but welcome...
