Leica Screw Mount to M-Mount question

Hello All,

I am new to tthis forum so pleas egive me some latitude.

I have a leica M-3. Had it since the mid 70s. It is a shooter, not a collectable. For the past 25 years or so, I have had a 50mm Submicron on it;in a collapsing SCREW mount. I managed to get a screw-to M conversion ring which works fine .but it is for a 90mm lens. So the displayed frame lines are wrong.

I am now thinking of looking for a correctr conversion ring, but don't know what the part is called, which complicates searching.

Is there a value differential between the 50 and the 90 (and wich way)?

Please help me know what it is called and perhaps where to find one besides e-Bay.

Cosina also makes an LTM to M adapter that will work, it's marked "Voigtlander" and "50 75". Excellent quality, maybe only exceeded by Leica adapters. You may be able to find one used at a lower price than the Leica-branded ones.

The only difference between the 35,50 and 90 ltm to M mount is the key for bringing up the correct frame; otherwise they are identical. The Leica and voightlander adapters are excellent, but sometimes other makes will not focus properly...I had this problem with a German made after market adapter.

One thing, which keeps on bugging me. OP have M3. And on my M3, 50mm frames are always on. Doesn't matter which lens or adapter on it...

on the m3, if you put on a 90 mm adaptor on the 50 mm lens, you still see the 50 frame, yes, but you also see the 90, and that can be distracting.

I used 50mm lens with adaptor for 90mm lens on M3, this is why I totally understand why OP used it same way for decades. I just don't understand why he called it as wrong frame, while 50mm was always where. and 90mm frame is so tiny...
Now, some M cameras have 50 and 75 frames visible by same time. And this is destructing, not distracting, IMO.

Well, yea, but they only have three available frame positions, so they have to share. I agree having two can be distracting. When I use a 50 on my Leica CL I have to keep reminding myself which frame to use. Sometimes I guess wrong.
