Have I ever said any of that stuff? If so, I'm sorry.

I’ve only so much as held a Leica in my hands once (it was an SL).

I haven’t washed my hands since.

Yes they are complete pratts. Cameras don't take pictures, people do. Yes a Leica is nice to handle, but give 10 photographers a leica to take pictures around a town and give HCB a Brownie 127 to do the same thing and he will come back with the better pictures every time.

real douchebags would be using cascas, red flag 20s, and gammas rather than common or garden leicas.

When I use mine, I cover them up in various leather camera-covers,
feels better in the hand, protects the camera from scratches and avoid looking like a douche.

And I mostly take shit photos with my Leicas, so it is clearly nothing magical with these cameras

There's a leather camera cover that doesn't make someone look like a douche?

great link thanks Huss !
funny thing is you can replace Leica with pretty much any camera, oly om10, Nikon F, Hasselhoff, mamaya ebony, deardorf, lomo, holga, mamiya16, gandolfi, bush,
and lenses too, I mean who doesn't love their 10,000$ cooke knuckler, I mean ..
people likes their gear and there is always cult like adoration for gear people like ..

yup

what you said reminds me of the film, lumiere and company .. they gave the lumiere brother's movie camera to an armload of well known and beloved film makers and well. ... https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7A4469EB704E10C3

I only saw the David Lynch one - and that looked like authentic visual nonsense from 100 years ago - so, appropriate....

I have sold a lot of cameras. I have talked to a number of camera owners including Leicas and I have never run into anyone with an attitude like that from any of them. When most people see someone with a camera that they do not own, they do not make condescending comments. I do not know where this person came from, but I would not waste my time on him or his followers.

One thing about owning and using a high end camera is that if the photographs are crap, then one can only blame themselves.

I thought it was a pretty good presentation about what could be achieved in 1 uncut hand cranked strip of film.. like clive said give the leicas to 10 people and a brownie ... the lumiere brother's camera is like a brownie...

Personally, I don't get the lure of the digital Leicas at all.
Expensive and pretentious.

And Leica are upping their price while reducing features for every new release, talk about making money in both ends.
What's next? A sensor-less, viewfinder-less dead brick with no logo and a fake winder for $15 000 ?

If you are thinking about going digital, you should look hard at Sony.

Leica lost it, once they went digital and the funny thing is that they brush the dust off the old Leica icon photos every time they release a new, overpriced and pretty much outdated camera.

The world apparently loves to be fooled.

Want the "Leica experience" ?
Buy one of the analog ones in the used market.

I think they are making fun of the newbies and certain other Youtubers that treat Leica like a status symbol. There is one popular Youtuber that always has his Leica on the desk in front of him. Bizarre. From what I've seen on Youtube they kind of act like you aren't a real photographer unless you have a Leica. Nonsense of course which seems like the point of the video.

IDK I know a couple of people with Leica digital cameras .. they are not leicafiles, pretentious or a-holes and they love what they have and make grab photographs with them. if you ever get a chance to view max martinucci's photogravures some of them were done with digital negatives he made with his digital Leica, they are absolutely masterful. he went by the username maxiumusm3 here ...

Not saying the people are, the cameras are or, better yet, Leica the company is.

Nobody needs a Leica, digital or analog to make great photographs.

In terms of pure specs, digi Leicas are several years behind the competition.(it is relevant, due to the ridiculous asking price they put).
But, it is perfectly possible to create great photos with them too, my personal digi is a 5D mkIII and I am happy with that. In the digi world, it is ancient, but still produce great photos.

It just wasn’t sold to me by a guy in a turtleneck, eating a pear while adding zero after zero to the final bill with a fixed focal lens, which isn’t really much better than the competition.

I was joking. Well, sorta - I don't think using a Leica without a case or half case is going to make anyone look like a douche. Dangling an RB67 from a neck strap might, though.
I don't think the camera has anything to do with it people are people.
There's nothing like a ....Hasselblad!
I would never buy one, ever. give me a kiev88cm or arax88cm any day, better camera better glass better disposition.
