I have a Leica M4-P I acquired recently and it works wonderfully, a nice addition as a second
body. It does have some light viewfinder haze (not fungus) and I'm curious if the haze these
cameras are known for developing is inside the glass of the top cover usually or further inside
the viewfinder mechanism.

Please only reply if you have first hand experience or knowledge.

Ya, I saw the videos on removal of the top plate, it's very straight forward, it was where the foggy haze was located that was more my question.
.
Thanks for the video link...I'm ordering some Leica Micro-Tool wrenches ;o)

In the case of my M4-2 the haze was located on the inner surface of the top plate viewfinder glass. It was very easy to clean. However, in the end I sent off the camera for a professional overhaul, which included a cleaning of the whole view/rangefinder optics, and this really made a difference, so this is what I would recommend if the camera has never been serviced.
