Leica M2 rangefinder - vertical adjustment

I trried to adjust the vertical alignment of rangefinder on my Leica M2. I managed to fix my issue but to my surprise I also changed the horizontal adjustment - a lot. Is this normal? I was under the impression that vertical adjustment would not affect the horizontal adjustment but clearly it did. Atleast on my camera.

This thread is years old but I'd like to share that I just adjusted corrected the vertical alignment on a Leica M3 myself. The horizontal alignment did not change.
