Looking at a Leica M-A in the classified ad it looks like the shutter speed dial is milled to connect with the MR-4. Can anyone confirm the the MR-4 meter will fit and couple on the M-A?

As far as I'm aware, they're compatible — that's what that slot's for, after all (the MP doesn't have it, for hopefully obvious reasons).

For good measure, I visually compared the position of the slot against my M3, and it all looks the same.

Maybe someone here who owns an M-A can corroborate.

Yea, that looks correct compared to my M's. Yes, MP doesn't have it. I agree with 250swb about the the KEK's M meter and I have been using one for a month or two on my M3's and M2. It's an nice upgrade from the old MR's.

Yes it will fit, but they are all very old and unreliable now, but use it until it stops working. A modern alternative is the new KEKS replacement for the MR meter, which naturally will also fit.
I have three black MR-4 meters. One stays on my M4. And they may be old but they are very accurate and reliable. DAG repairs them and will convert them to a 625 (I think) for $90.

Yes. I had one done by DAG..... agreed...they are reliable.

'Very reliable' and 'DAG repairs them' in the same sentence, only on Photrio.
My M4 is very reliable and DAG has serviced it. Do you mean say it isn't? The MR-4 meter takes mercury batteries, DAG serviced mine and replaced it with an available battery.

Always hated that meter. I found it very awkward to use. Switch-up to a new one. Many available.

I'm sure OP is asking because they, in fact *like* using the leicameter.
Doesn't mean you have to like it too. Different strokes for different folks
