Hi Everyone, these is the frugal (OK, cheap) Leica photographer's lens bubbles. From the supermarket, really inexpensive. Yes, I know, I have far too many filters, adapters, and lenses.
My 1969 50mm ƒ/2.8 Elmar-M came in a bubble. So this is not a new invention for Leica. You know the story: I now wish I had kept that Elmar. I stupidly sold it when I thought digital would take over the world.
My stepdad's
1961 Summicron-DR came in a box with styrofoam insert, so the lens bubble must have been introduced later in the E. Leitz packaging and presentation.
