I’m in the process of recovering my IA and have the (horrid) old recover removed. I kind of like it like this ;-)

My recently serviced 1936 vintage Leica IIIa with a 50mm f2 Summar. This sample looks amazing and functions as new.

They don't get prettier than this. My Mint ++++ condition (judged to ebay Japanese sellers standards) R8

I was wondering when somebody would finally bring up the R series. Yes, in general, they are better looking than the M series. However, the R7 is much, much more handsome than the R8. (If I had a lens for mine, I'd post it a photo, but right now, I'm on a Nikkor buying binge...it's just a crying shame that non-Leica lenses can't be adapted to R bodies). Can anyone truthfully say that the prism housing on the R4-R7 series is not the most elegant ever created?

How about another piece of Leica eye candy: M2 from 1967 with 50mm ƒ/2 Summicron-DR, purchased at the same time as the body. Don Goldberg cleaned and overhauled the body a couple of years ago.

What is like to actually shoot with this?
It’s a bit of a learning curve. If you’re in one area shooting without changing anything it’s pretty normal. The finder is Useless. I put a Vidom on or just point it and shoot using the clip as an aiming device. Forgetting to uncap the lens before shooting happens as does forgetting to cap while winding on. Just a matter of training. In hand it’s Awesome a real Leica. The case is really nice. Images are awesome the lens is as good as any Leica 50 made..
