Thank you Mustafa I will forward the manufacturing process to the plating co. I'll wait for his reply. Still maybe good enough for a cheap really beat up leica. I have a war time iiic also someone polished down to the brass i'd like to fix

I think you are reading too much into 'the manufacturing process' as it is a standard technique known about for decades before Leica wanted to plate anything. The significance is that all industrial processes were noted down after the war to discover if there were any secrets to be revealed, they weren't noted because they were secrets.

Okay Turnerplating sent me a sample. as 250swb said not really a secret process plater stated process has been the same since the 1930s. Now the sample sent me is a very matte finish like my Kardon camera which can use some refinishing since its very rare it would be left alone. The texture looks the same maybe a little course compared to a leica . I'll have to ask if it can be brighten up. I was going to have a badly scratched base for a leotax model S chromed I guess I'll live with it. Still may send a iiic top and bottom plate

Maybe they should try USED media. That would be finer than new.

Oftentimes, imperfect but original paint is valued as much as or more than a perfect repaint. Even with some dings in the metal. Just making the point as it pertains to cars.

Confirmed

Finding someone to change out there sandblaster for another material was the problem. I was told this would be a pain for those sandblasting on an industrial scale to do this.
Its been stripped I'll have it painted instead. I have a number of leicas I dont think its going to hurt to fix one up. I have plenty of leicas in original cosmetic shape. I very aware it would hurt value. There are plenty of late wartime iiic's out there. I don't believe this to be a high value camera. It's not something westlicht will auction off in the future.
