BIG M3 refers to the abnormally large "M3" engraved in the serial number. This signifies the camera was assembled in Canada by Leitz Midland Canada. From mir.com/my

"Some have termed the classification for those Midland assembled models as "ELC" which probably stands for produced by Ernst Leitz Canada. So, in the case of a Wetzlar M3 and an assembled M3 ELC, for an example, users may used some minor differences such as 1. Midland Leica M has a larger engraving for the camera model i.e. "M3" than the serial number that followed. Some of the M3 may also had marked with Made in Canada. Premium may vary from different combinations, condition and rarity element."

Camera works well with shutter just CLA'd. Rangefinder accurate - viewfinder clean and clear. Camera shows good honest use. No major dings or dents, just one little tiny pinprick on front far left at 11 oclock, otherwise just brushmarks. The little metal film reminder disc on the back door is missing which is common. Note a little red leica dot on curtain.

Good working M3 in very fair cosmetic condition. A good user camera, not a shelf queen. Includes quick manual, generic body cap, and original flash port caps.

Note: CLA’d. Cleaned and lubricated mechanical parts. Replaced short curtain to new. Adjusted shutter speeds and brake, shutter works well at all speeds now. Recovered the camera. Replaced the defective rewind bracket with a good one. Cleaned finder and adjusted focus. The finder is clean and clear now. Tested the camera with a blank roll film and made sure film winding and rewinding are all good.
