What you decide to do really is your business and that of your "customers". But keep this in mind as you go ahead with your plan. These days, nothing rarely stay private. There are so many times those private photos leaked out and caused all kinds of embarrassment and havoc, sometimes results in death of innocent people. Also, what people people do in private is whole a lot different than what they would do when others are watching. This is especially true in oppressed countries where one is not free to express themselves. I will stop here as it is just my opinion. Good luck with your plan. I sincerely hope it won't back fire on you, your friends, or others who might get wound up on wrong side of the situations.

Afghanistan is NOT Iraq. They could do and have things in Iraq that are not remotely allowed in Afghanistan. There is also a high amount of professionalism expected of the officers and this does not fit that standard.

If you do the photos, wait until he's home to give them to him. When he's caught with them (and there's no way my husband could have kept something like this secret, even at his rank), the incident will make it onto his next OER. When he's putting in for the next bump in rank, all of his OERs will get reviewed. He will not be high on the list. If I were you, I'd be honest with the wife about this and remind her that she can have a lot of responsibility for how his career goes, too.

I know her husband and is a higher ranking officer and I can say with 100% certainty that whatever photos she sends will only be seen by him.

We are going to go ahead and shoot this week.

These guys are bunked way too close for no one else to ever find out.

Hubby is shaking his head and mentioning the recent 1 star general who was busted for porn (and other things). If anyone has an axe to grind against this guy, they'll find out somehow and use this. He also doubts the guy is of higher rank than he if he has a wife planning this sort of thing (though he says not all higher ranks make good choices in that area).

Last time I checked, we still live in a free country. Problem is, Afghanistan isn't.

This means you're going to have to get creative...

What if you took the series of photos and made just one that isn't "objectinable" per local standards. Just send that ONE picture and attach a note that says, there are more pictures he can see when he gets home.

Not saying this is THE answer. Just saying that you should think "outside the box" on this.

I would say: ask the husband. Isn't he the boss in the family?

If he says "go on", go on.
If he says "go on but keep the photograph within homeland", go on but keep the photograph.
If he says "you want to make me ridiculous thinking that I need a nude picture of my wife for whatever reason which I will not even mention, then just don't", just don't.

OK there is no more "surprise effect" but I think that would be more considerate.

And in any case one can make a picture, scan it and send it by some electronic means so that he can keep this picture in his smartphone, if he feels so inclined.

What you say is EXACTLY the point. The question in the original post was quite simple: is using camoflaged clothing a violation of military uniform law or not. So given all of the warnings about potential negative results of using the images afterward, can't we say that the OP and the client "have been warned" and appear to have given it intelligent consideration, and now let them live with their decision -- for good or for bad? It's up to them, their judgement, and their ethics now.

... and since I chose not to disengage... I'm in total agreement with you Bethe. I was to terse. Waht I was implying is that we shouldn't/can't expect Seagrams or Penthouse to stop production just because there are Islamic countries in which their product can be introduced as contraband.

I totally understand and stand by your husband's opinion, BTW... except the part of trying to ensure that everyone"does the right thing". At some point there is no helping those who have been worned, trained, inspected... and still choose to do the wrong thing. We can try though... and that's been the overwhelming intent of this thread. It's up to them now to do what is right... in whatever way they see fit to do that.
