Through a really strange series of events I learned my cousin from New Mexico is really good friends with Lee Marmon. She knew I was into photography and would mention her friend "Lee" from time to time. Little did I know it was the Lee Marmon! Anyhow, w/o my knowledge she had given Lee my number and as I was sitting around the other night, my cell rings and it was Lee. I was already in awe of the man's work and after about an hour conversation, I came away really respecting him as a person. What a humble man. Lee is the real deal. Totally self taught and still uses many of the chemicals he started with in 1946. This man is an American jewel for sure. If you want to see some of the most powerful images of the peoples of the southwest check out his book "The Pueblo Imagination." I really was on a cloud not because of him calling me really but the honest simplicity of the man. Anyhow, just thought I'd share a little of my excitement with fellow photographers. BTW he still uses Dektol!

Peace,
Mike
