The other thread got me to thinking (and made me a little jealous of all the terrific places I have never been to, but would someday love to visit.)...What locations have caused you serious grumblings? What places or situations have proved so stressful or difficult, or produced such miserable results that you never want to go there again?

Now, I don't mean locations that very overly challenging and taxed your abilities as a amateur or professional photographer (God knows, most of my visited locations fit in there!!); but, the locations that you detested! The ones that were not worth pulling the camera out for...but you did anyway and were proven right...

Anywhere there are people....

And with that statement, off to Yellowstone I go

I really do not like going to the dentist... does that count???

Milan, Italy. And I know I'm right - it's been proven to me many times.

I din't even unpack my camera there - jumped on a train to Verona instead

The only "saving grace" of this armpit of Italy is its location - turning the concept of weekends away into an art form.

Shopping Malls...

Weddings. Period, Full stop, The end!!!! I never want to shoot another wedding.

Among Norwegian cities, one of the worst is Hammerfest - by day, in summer. It looks very different in winter!

Drammen - I've driven through a few times, never felt tempted to stop. Førde: Winner by a hair in the "ugliest town center", ahead of ("downtown") Stryn. That's why we're going to the neighboring village.

I agree!

I hate weddings combined with a camera!

Besides that I hate places where everybody else shoots...I like to explore a place that is not overshot (can one say that?).

I think I could photograph happily almost anywhere...it would just be different degrees of happy. As far as places that totally suck, it's a tie.

A) Malls are bad. West Edmonton Mall is really bad. The arcade in West Edmonton Mall caused every fibre of my being to scream FLEE...RUN AWAY...GET THE #%*^ OUTA HERE!!!, so I bailed and left my Honey playing Whack-a-Mole.

B) Belaying the first pitch of some climbs at the Malamute in Squamish. You're squeezed between the train tracks and the cliff on the inside of a long corner. The trains seem to lean over you as they thunder by. Like train vertigo. (It's considered bad form amongst climbers to unclip from the rope and run away while your partner is up there on the sharp end, so fleeing isn't an option).

I would love to go to Texas...and eat some huge steaks with chili beans...I love Texan food.

Any time, Morton, any time. We'll feed you good, son!

Cheers, y'all.

David,

how 'bout we take him to that place in Amarillo where you have to eat that 72 oz steak in one hour?

that should get his attention...

Where does a vegetarian go in Texas?

John,

most leave the state or you sometimes can see them foraging in the pastures

My least favorite place is where I currently live. It's a photographic wasteland.

If it were me, I'd request Angelo's. Or maybe Tolbert's. One for lunch, the other for dinner?

P.S. Hit the Kimball and Amon Carter in between.

I can't stand most of Southern CA (south of the beautiful city of Santa Barbara that is), most specifically, LA. I know that when it comes to California everyone seems to think LA and Hollywood are the greatest, but I sure like trees, mountains, and clean air...

S.F. and Berkeley aren't too much better with the crowds, but they sure have a lot of interesting people... Not sure if anyone in Berkeley would appreciate a 72 oz. steak... maybe a 72 oz. tofu? Now I think it would be more of a challenge to keep 72 oz. of tofu down than 72 oz of cow...
